The Surround-A-Child Program

Children are the heart of village life. By investing in children, you can help set them on the path of economic independence and stabilize the village.

Your sponsorship will provide a child such as Uloma with the opportunity for growth and education. She is in 2nd grade in the Community Primary School in the rural village of Ubulu, Imo State (formerly Biafra), Nigeria, thanks to our sponsorship program.

Action Africa’s program surrounds children with support so they can attend school, purchase school uniforms and supplies, receive medical care, and get nutritional supplements. It is insurance against poverty factors that can force children out of school

Your monthly donation of $12 will cover all the necessary costs to support this child’s well-being as well as educational costs.

The Surround-a-Child Program works in partnership with the local teacher’s association representing all the village schools as well as village chiefs and elders and medical teams.  They help determine which children are at risk of dropping out of school because of poverty factors and monitor the type of support needed as well as academic performance.

Once a month all the sponsored children come together to accomplish a task to benefit the village. Children learn that they are special and can give back to the community. These activities heighten their knowledge that the village needs them: while they are recipients of support, they also are contributors of support to the village. The teacher’s association collaborates in selecting the activity: picking up trash at the market place, arts and craft activities that will enliven a public place such as at the school, helping elderly or infirm villagers.

When you sponsor a child, you are working towards a sustainable solution. Education affects a child’s ability to make good decisions and attain self-sufficiency.  Join us.  Change is within reach. Just ask Uloma.
